Marketing Privacy Collection Notice

At Export Finance Australia, we are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988. We will collect, use and disclose your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Collection Notice and our Privacy Policy

This Privacy Collection Notice applies to all individuals who: 

  • subscribe to our marketing communications or online publications 
  • contact us through our public website and other communication channels.  

We may collect and use personal information (and other business information), including: 

  • your name and contact details (phone, email) 
  • business name and basic business information, such as annual turnover 
  • social media account information if you engage with us via social media. 

We collect personal information to: 

  • respond to enquiries 
  • provide requested publications  
  • share information about our services that may be relevant to you.  

While we are not required by law to collect this information, it is reasonably necessary to support our business activities, including managing our engagement with you.  

Providing your personal information is voluntary in respect of the marketing purposes in this notice. If you choose not to provide it, we may be unable to respond to your enquiry or provide information that may be of interest.  

We generally do not share your personal information, except where required or authorised in the following circumstances: 

  • Service providers: such as software providers we use to collect, store or process your personal information, or to communicate with you. This may include automated or artificial intelligence (“AI”) systems we use to automate processes, draft documents, conduct marketing activities or perform sentiment or market analysis. We apply similar privacy protections contractually on these service providers to protect the personal information they process on our behalf. 
  • Other Government agencies: for example, to support our functions and purposes we may disclose your personal information to Austrade if they can better assist you with your enquiry or because they offer complementary exporter supports that may be of interest to you. 
  • Legal requirements: where disclosure is required or authorised by law. 

We do not generally disclose your personal information to third parties overseas. However, some of our third-party ICT service providers may access or process personal information overseas, even where the information is not persistently stored overseas. For example, when we send SMS messages, your mobile number and message content may be processed by our SMS service provider or its subprocessors outside Australia, including in the United States. This information will not ordinarily be stored overseas on an ongoing basis.  If this changes, we will update our Privacy Policy. 

You can provide your consent for us to collect and use your personal information as set out in this notice. You can also update your marketing preferences at any time by contacting us or using the unsubscribe link included in our communications.
