Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040 

In September 2023, the Prime Minister launched Invested: Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040, a report to the Australian Government from Special Envoy for Southeast Asia Mr Nicholas Moore AO. The report sets out a practical pathway to significantly increase two-way trade and investment between Australia and Southeast Asia.  

As Australia’s export credit agency, we manage the Government’s $2 billion Southeast Asia Investment Financing Facility, which utilises our finance solutions to encourage investment in the region. The facility will be focused on enhancing trade and investment with Southeast Asia and supporting infrastructure development in the region. 

Opportunities aligned with these priorities and Australia’s national interest may be able to access finance through this facility. 

Investment Deal Teams 

The Australian Government has established Investment Deal Teams in Southeast Asian centres to work with businesses and governments to help identify and facilitate investment opportunities.

As part of these Teams, we have people based in Southeast Asia who work with Austrade and Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade employees to help Australian businesses overcome some of the challenges associated with investment in Southeast Asia. This includes providing support to eligible businesses to access the Southeast Asia Investment Financing Facility.
